A love of woodworking

Having always had a passion for crafts and making things, I got my first lathe at the end of 2016 and absolutely fell in love with turning. After almost a year of turning things for friends and family, in the fall of 2017 I decided to go to school for a formal education in woodworking with a focus on traditional furniture making. For three years, I expanded my knowledge, my skills, and my workshop. Woodworking allows for so much creativity. No two projects are the same, as every piece of wood has its own character and grain. Often the wood itself is the inspiration for the final form of a project. While in school, I began selling my work at farmers markets and craft fairs, eventually transitioning to it being my full-time job. I named my business Ginger Dog Woodworks as a tribute to my red-haired dog and best friend, Hugo.

At the end of 2023, I moved to the Sierra Foothills in the Weimar area and have been taking part in the local maker/crafter community selling at local markets and events in the Colfax and Auburn area. I share my passion by offering my handmade goods along with antique repair and refinishing, full hand-sharpening services for all knives and tools, and custom work ranging from special requests to full custom furniture using traditional methods and handmade joinery.
